My laptop won't turn on and when I press the power button, the light flashes white about 5 times and goes off again. I've left it overnight and nothing changed. I took out the battery and even left it on charge when trying to restart it but nothing has happened so far. And when I plug the charger in, the charging light does not come on either.

Try the following and see if it will turn on.
1. First make sure the device has been charged. 2. Unplug your charger cord. 3. Remove the battery. 4. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds and see if the device will turn on. 5. If it does, great, now plug back in the power/charger cord. (If it didn't turn on without the cord in, it should turn on once you it is in. Yes sometimes they will turn on, or try to turn on, even with nothing attached/plugged in.) 6. Now put the battery back in.
If this doesn't help, then test the power cord to see if it is good. Either try your cord in another device, or try another devices cord in your laptop.
Should that not be the problem, then check the battery to see if it needs replacing.
From there, if it is still not working, then you may need to open it up and find out the problem. Or take it to a local tech/repair shop.

Yes you would have to open it up. That said, if the device is still under warranty I would suggest you contact the manufacturer before doing any physical work that could void the warranty.

Thank you for the advice, am gonna give it to someone who knows what they're doing before I make a total mess! It is 12 months and 1 week old - typical!

Whoever you are, thanks for the solution. My laptop is almost 3 years old (no more warranty, of course) and, in which we could consider the worst moment, the five - white led - blinks issue appeared. I tried what you suggest here and it worked! Thanks a lot! Hoowever, my doubt is if this problem might appear again, and if you know if it's kind of premonitory of some hardware failure, or if it's not that big. Thanks again!

That is hard to say. Usually, it isn't an indicator of more, but then again I can't say it 'never' is.

Are there any other solutions for this issue? It has just happened to my laptop today
I know what I am doing with laptops so I can take it apart but I don't know what I'm looking for, any ideas what the issue could be?
Thanks

I tried all the step but still doent work. Can I also remove the battery that was on the mother board?

Thank you. I've been having issues, that seemed memory related, so got some new RAM worked great for several hours then died and was doing this even after a battery pull but this suggestion worked. That narrows it down to the hard drive or the CPU. When it finally came back on it said it need to partition the drive then updated widows. So more likely the drive, at least that's a cheaper replacement than CPU.
Thanks again, backing up recent files now.
Yep just a wee bit over a year old. I should have known better. Every Toshiba I've ever had was junk after the warranty period.

I tried taking the battery out and holding down the power button, but when I plugged it back in and tried to turn it on the light on the power button would be on for a second then turn off. That happened every time I did this. Is there any other solution. Thank you.

Take the battery out then plug it in and try it with the battery out. You have to unscrew the bottom and pop it off to get to the battery.
